Breakin' News - This song was originally written for my former band, "This Just In!", but ended up never being performed with that group.
The Lone Raven's Cry - I am a "bird person" and one of my favorite birds is the raven because of their great beauty and intelligence.
You're the Only One I'll Ever Love - This is about my mother's cousin, Elizabeth. When Elizabeth was in her 20's, she was engaged to be married. The wedding was called off at the last minute for reasons unknown. Her fiance married someone else. One day, my mother received a phone call from Elizabeth (now, age 80) announcing that she was getting married for the first time. She had run into her former fiance and learned that his wife had passed away. She finally married her first love. After three years, he passed away and after that Elizabeth lost her will to live.
Alligator Alley - I am originally from Jacksonville, Fla. Alligator Alley, also known as Everglades Parkway is a section of Interstate 75 which runs east to west in Florida. Alligators are frequently spotted along this road and they say that you don't want to get out of your car while traveling this route.
Child of Troubled Times - The orphan trains (1854-1929) transported children from the eastern states to the midwest for adoption. This is a fictional song about someone who was on the orphan train and what it might be like to go back home again.
Harry Lee - This is based on a true story about my distant cousin, Harry Lee. He killed his uncle with an axe, went to prison and was later released.
It's Not Too Late - Most everyone has had an experience with a "love gone wrong". This is just one of those songs.
Can't Find a Good Woman - This was written for a single friend.
In the Flower Fields - When my husband and I first met, one of our first dates was to photograph the flower fields near Temecula, Ca. It was a very romantic day that I shall always remember.
For Chloe - This was written for "Chloe", our scrubjay friend who frequents our backyard.
